About Me

Hi, I’m Alex

I graduated with a Master of Science in Finance, studying quantitative finance and portfolio management, from West Virginia University. I currently live in New Jersey and work in valuation consulting in New York City. I perform a broad range of valuations from business and equity valuation to complex financial instruments.

While at WVU, I took a particular interest in economic research, using Python and SQL for data analysis, and writing. As a graduate student, I co-wrote a weekly macroeconomic report, which you can find examples of here.

In addition to work, I maintain my interests by conducting after-hours research and occasionally writing and sharing my thoughts. From monetary policy and financial markets to microfinance and real estate; I enjoy learning and sharing my thoughts on all things finance and economics.

I am an avid learner with a curious personality, so I enjoy studying, reading, pursuing personal projects, and facing unique challenges.

Prior to and during my time at WVU, I worked part-time as a studio and touring musician and eventually opened our own recording studio with a good friend. I enjoy creativity and try to incorporate it into my research and interests daily.

Values

Aligning my values with those around me is important. I value collaborative and innovative environments that produce quality work while maintaining a fun and friendly culture. I strive to give back (monetary / volunteering) and I appreciate those that do as well. Growing up in a non-diverse region of Appalachia, I place great value on diversity and diverse organizations.

Hobbies

I enjoy cooking, being outdoors, spending time with friends, and listening to music. My favorite weekend activities include traveling, going to concerts, and eating. I’m a cycling enthusiast, a self-proclaimed bike mechanic, an avid record collector, and an appreciator of vintage audio equipment. I ride specialized bikes and listen to records on a Hitachi PS-15 turntable with a Pioneer SX-737 receiver.

About this Website

I created this website during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as a practical application of the HTML and CSS design computer languages I was learning at the time. Further, I hope whether you’re reviewing my resume or interested in what I have to share that this makes things easier and more pleasing to the eye.

Although I am not current on my HTML and CSS skills anymore, I still plan to keep this website up-to-date and as useful as possible. I welcome feedback on or if any function is out of service.
